Well, that didn’t take very long. President Biden has gotten the distraction that he and the rest of Congress needed to change the conversation from getting into a war with Russia.
Personally, I think one of the last things this country needs right now is to be in another long drawn out war we cannot possibly win. Congress and the President will spend trillions of dollars, who knows how many lives of our men and women in the military, in an area where there is no strategic value to the United States.
I am old enough to remember Viet Nam and every war we have been in since and none of them have been in the best interest of the United States. They have been politically motivated and some elite donors have gotten very very rich by our involvement. (I will spend more time on useless wars later.)
Back to the Supreme Court Justice nomination. I find it hard to believe that Justice Breyer preferred the announcement of his retirement happen in this manner. It was extremely important that his retirement happen before the mid-terms so that President Biden could get his nomination jammed through Congress before the possibility of losing the democrat majority in the House and Senate.
Supreme Court Justices are supposed to be apolitical and base their decisions only with respect to the Constitution. That certainly has not been the case for many many years now. Virtually all of their decisions are based on liberal and/or conservative bias. Both of which I believe is wrong.
Why is it Constitutionally wrong for the President to mandate a fake vaccine to employees of companies with over 100 employees but Constitutionally okay for the President to mandate a fake vaccine to health care workers? Is the Constitutionality of a fake vaccine mandate based on professions? I’m not sure the founding fathers considered this and intended for the Constitution to apply to everybody equally. Once again, I digress.
President Biden has promised from the beginning to appoint a Black Woman to the Supreme Court if he got the chance. The eliminates any possible Justice candidates that are male, no matter what race, and a whole lot of classifications of women. Would that be Constitutional to select someone strictly based on race for any position?
Now, understand, I have absolutely no problem with a black women being on the Supreme Court. I just think that our criteria needs to be who is the best person to be on the Supreme Court? I am fine with a black woman, as long as she is qualified and competent to do the job. I also think that to say one is going to eliminate all candidates except black women is racist.
The selection should be color blind, ideology neutral and sexless in choosing a Supreme Court Justice. It won’t be and it hasn’t been for decades.
I am also very anxious to see how the two Senators, that voted against the multi-trillion dollar pork barrel that the Democrats wanted, are treated with the nomination. They did everything they could to shame, humiliate and destroy them and now they will need them in the worst way.
Unfortunately, the solution for Biden’s nomination will not depend on getting all of the Democrats in the Senate to vote his way. I am betting that a whole bunch of Republicans will vote for his pick no matter what. Who wants to go into the mid-terms with the media and the progressives saying a Republican voted against a black woman for the Supreme Court. I can hear the chant of racist, racist, racist starting and going through to election night.
Through it all, however, we will go to war, waste our treasure and our blood that will keep them in power and making tons of money, and that story will be on page 5, while the media and the politicians get their manufactured drama on page 1 for all of us to talk about.
